The hope is fading from my lips

Her voice is so remarkable. This song is so relevant in so many ways.

Text

unfortunately i don’t have the audio right now, but you all can buy it on iTunes at midnight tonight! which you should. seriously. go buy it.

You’ve got a way of calling

right at the wrong time

I know your southern drawl is

what trouble sounds like

The way you got me grinning

You know I’ll climb up in your rusty truck

I give up, come on over, pick me up

Backroads, no lines

high beam headlights

baby you just might

make me lose my mind

you slide me over little love shooting shotgun

hands out the window

got my toes up on the dash

nothing but fields on the wheels

just slinging red mud

i like the way you drive

just like a rebel child

you make me wanna get barefoot and buckwild

Let’s go

You’re showing off in circles

down by the riverside

you like to make me nervous

so I move in real tight

Come on throw it in park

I wanna see the stars

And feel the grass between my toes

Dancing to the radio

Oh, you got me where you want me

Lost in the country (i just can’t believe)

you slide me over little love shooting shotgun

hands out the window

got my toes up on the dash

nothing but fields on the wheels

just slinging red mud

i like the way you drive

just like a rebel child

you make me wanna get barefoot and buckwild

I don’t know how you do what you do

But you do what you do

And it does what it does to me

I can’t stop it

once you start it

you slide me over little love shooting shotgun

hands out the window

got my toes up on the dash

nothing but fields on the wheels

just slinging red mud

i like the way you drive

just like a rebel child

you make me wanna get barefoot and buckwild

Life Is O.K., if You Went to College

Go to college, people. It’s important.

Some interesting info: This is very reminiscent of the Baby X experiments, in which it was discovered that people reacted differently to a baby’s behavior depending on whether or not they believed the baby to be male or female.  People were asked to watch a video of a baby reacting to a startling image (a Jack-in-the-box popping up), and describe the baby’s emotional state.  When people believed the baby to be female, they described the baby as being scared and upset; when they thought the baby was male, they perceived the baby to be angry.  This was very telling, as it showed that literally identical behavior could be construed differently based on the perceived gender of the subject.
